This booth we learned about carbon fibers and how strong they are.
This is a washing machine built by some students for 3rd world countries.
This is an LED Ukelele where it lights up under the strings for a programed song so you know which strings to push to play the song. The kids had a great time with it.
We also learned about brain waves,
and carbonation,
and smell diffusion.
Then we went upstairs and competed in some competitions. First was the egg drop. They had to build a container for an egg so when it was dropped from a ladder, it wouldn't break.
Successful!
Pop bottle rockets. They were trying to aim their canisters to land into a bucket. None of these kids did it.
They also built structures using 15 spaghetti noodles, a pices of yarn, a long piece of tape and it had to be as tall as possible and support a marshmallow at the top. The record for the day so far was 19 inches and this one was 17 1/2 inches!
They also pretended to be Construction Workers and build structures according to a plan they were given.
Finally, they had to follow instructions to build a bridge from toothpicks and gumdrops.
They all loved the robot that was driving around!
